Today's Market at a Glance!!! Truly original coins continue to be a very tough find. Coins that have real eye appeal and natural colors tend to trade way above sheet levels. As I teach in my classes, “sheets are a great guide and a valuable tool in the industry, but sheets and books don’t buy coins.” I wish that someone would send me or come and see me with totally original eye appealing coins and say “here, you can buy all of these totally original and eye appealing coins at grey sheet levels” it just doesn’t happen. I do get deals that I can buy at grey sheet or even under grey sheet, but they are not the coins I would want my collectors/investors to have in their portfolio’s or collections. Again, stay with quality, even if it is a G-4, make sure it is a G-4 with no problems and just honest wear, and have patience. More is not always better especially when you are spending good money and compiling quantity rather than quality. Be a sharp collector/investor and have patience. It will pay off.
